Bernice M. Sottasante, March 1, 1928 – April 26, 2024
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bernice M. Sottasante, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born March 1, 1928 in Reading, Bernice’s vibrant spirit and loving presence were a blessing to all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents, Thomas J. and Helen (Scindo) O’Meara, her sister Mae Dietrich, her cherished husband, James Sottasante, Bernice’s legacy continues through her devoted daughter Deborah L. Lutz wife of Kevin Lutz, her adored grandchildren Tara Lutz-Miller, Tom Lutz, and Tracie Tarr, her five treasured great-grandchildren Briana, Kiersten, Kelsy, Trevor, and Zoey, her step-grandson Keegan, and longtime companion Daniel Moyer.
Bernice, along with James and Deborah, was the proud founder of Tara’s Uniform Shop and Tommy’s Sandwich Shop in Muhlenberg. For over two decades, these family-run businesses were not just establishments but a testament to Bernice’s dedication, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit.
A woman of joy and passion, Bernice’s love for life was infectious. She relished in the happiness of gatherings, the excitement of casino trips, and, most importantly, the warmth of being surrounded by her family and friends. As we bid farewell to Bernice, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Her spirit will forever be cherished and remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
