Amanda E. (Fisher) Barlet Zerbe, passed away peacefully in the Wyomissing home of her daughter, Faye Warmkessel on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. She was 102 years old. Amanda was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Catherine (Moyer) Fisher and was predeceased by husbands Earl W. Barlet in 1981, and Ralph C. Zerbe in 2011.
Amanda was born in Reading and graduated from the former Shillington High School in 1941. Following graduation Amanda worked at the Berkshire Knitting Mills and Fairy Silk Mill. In the 1960’s she began working as a secretary for Reading Multiple Listing Service. She loved this job and continued to work there until her retirement.
As an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Shillington, she maintained the Cradle Roll, scheduled greeters, and served on the Worship and Music Committee for years starting in 1950.
Amanda loved baseball! She enjoyed going to see the Reading Fightin’ Phils as recently as September and never missed a Phillies game on television. Amanda liked taking annual trips to Las Vegas to visit friends and take in the atmosphere. Possessing an indomitable spirit, Amanda always wanted to “keep moving” and was pleased to reach her lifelong goal of riding a motorcycle – at age 75. She prided herself on being careful with her money and never failed to spot and retrieve any coins that she might find on the ground. Recently, she delighted her medical professionals with her attitude and sarcasm.
Amanda is survived by her daughters, Faye M. (Barlet) Warmkessel, wife of Ray, Wyomissing, and Ann L. Barlet, Muhlenberg Township, her granddaughter, Jennie E. (Warmkessel) Maher, wife of William, Wyomissing, and grandson Jeffrey R. Warmkessel (husband of Nancy), New Jersey. Also surviving are great grandchildren Keegan and Sydney Maher, and Garret and Ashley Warmkessel.
