Bruce Meck Obituary

Bruce E. Meck, 65, of Mohnton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Tower Health-Reading Hospital following a valiant battle with cancer.  Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Stewart E. and Ester M. (Eager) Meck, and the loving husband of Margaret A. Torrente-Meck, celebrating over 26 years of marriage.

A 1979 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Bruce built a successful career and was co-owner of Berks Emergency Equipment Company in Mohnton.  He dedicated much of his life to serving his community, most recently serving as President of Friendship Fire Company #2 in Mohnton.  He was also a Life Member of the Brecknock Fire Company, where he served as President, Chief and Assistant Chief, and previously served in various leadership positions at Cedar Top Fire Company.

Bruce was a former Boy Scout leader for Troop 241 in Knauers, a Board member for Protective Services at BCTC, and a Facilitator of the Berks County Fire Training Center.  He was also a member of the Cumru Fire Department, and an active contributor to both the Berks County Chief’s Association and Berks County Firemen’s Association.  An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Bruce also enjoyed John Deere tractors, NASA, photography and hunting.  He was a faithful member of Allegheny Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife, Bruce is survived by his sons Christopher J. Magill, husband of Alexandria, of Kenhorst, and Jesse D. Magill, fiancée of McKalin, of Hamburg, along with his cherished grandchildren, Raeynn, Aubrey and Ian Magill.  Also surviving is his sister, Cassandra Trostle, wife of David, and brothers Brian Meck, husband of Karen, and Brett Meck.

Services will be held at the convenience of his family.  Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Shillington, is honored to care for Bruce and his family during this very difficult time.  www.kleefuneralhome.com
