Carl Allen Stewart, 74, of West Lawn, passed away July 12, 2023 at the Reading Hospital where he was a patient.
Born in Lebanon, PA, he was a son of the late Warren B. and Arlene T. (Kehs) Stewart. He was the husband of Janet S. (Jablonski) Stewart. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in August.
Carl was an auto body mechanic all his life owning his own business at 224 Wood Street, Reading. He later worked as the supervisor of distribution at Penn State Health-St. Joseph, retiring in 2012.
He was a member of Isaac Heister Lodge No, 660 F&AM, Scottish Rite bodies, Valley of Reading, Rajah Shrine where he was a former member of their Yacht Club. He was also a member of West Wyomissing Fire Co., Lincoln Park F.C., Goodwill Fire Co., the Quoiting Club, and the Sinking Spring VFW. Carl loved collecting cars, owning over 70 in his lifetime. Some he owned were Chevy II, El Camino, Corvette, and Camaro just to name a few. He loved showing and restoring cars, live music, bands, dancing, talking and telling stories with friends “repeatedly”. Carl was a Phillies fan, enjoyed watching the Three Stooges, Our Gang and NCIS reruns and boating on the Schuylkill River and Chesapeake Bay.
In addition to his loving wife Janet, he is survived by his sons – Bradley A. husband of Donna Stewart, Sinking Spring and Scott A. Stewart, Bolingbrook IL. His brothers - Robert husband of Sharon Stewart, Womelsdorf, Tim Stewart, Bowmansville and his grandchildren – Brett Stewart, McKenna Stewart, Isabella Stewart, and Brooke Stewart.
