Carlton Richard Madeira, 92, of Phoebe Berks, Wernersville, PA died on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was surrounded by his wife of 60 years and their four children.
He was the husband of Barbara Ann (Anderson) Madeira, whom he married in May 1963. He was born in Maxatawny Township PA. He was the son of the late Stewart and Minerva (Heffner) Madeira.
Carlton was a 1949 graduate of Kutztown High School. He attended Wyomissing Polytech Institute and graduated from the American Technical Society. Carlton is a Korean War Veteran. He served in the US Airforce for four years, including 2 ½ years in Japan as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist.
He was a member of St John’s Reformed Church, Sinking Spring and member of the former St Lukes UCC in Kenhorst PA where he served as the Secretary of Consistory. Carlton was a lifetime member of the Shillington American Legion.
Carlton worked as a Design & Product Draftsman for 37 years, primarily working for the former Birdsboro Corporation and the Baldwin Brass Company, retiring in 1993. Upon retirement, Carlton and Barbara enjoyed traveling the country, visiting nearly all fifty states, and spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by two daughters, Karen (wife of Kevin Kauffman) and Sharon (wife of Allen Kegerise), and two sons, Brian (husband of Jennifer Fenstermaker Madeira) and Darin (husband of Jennifer Madeira). Carlton was the proud Grandfather (grandpa) of six grandchildren: Taylor Kauffman, Matthew and Olivia Madeira, and Zachary, Lillian, and Allison Madeira.
Funeral services from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 1:30 PM. Chaplain Traci Glover will officiate. Viewing from 12:30-1:30 PM at the funeral home. Services will be webcast at www.kleefuneralhome.com and going on Carlton’s obituary.
