Charles Karasoulis Obituary
Charles \"Kiriako\" Karasoulis, 91, of Pottsville, passed away December 23, 2020 in the Reading Hospital where he was a patient.
Born in Athens, Greece, he was a son of the late Nicholas & Effie Karasoulis.
He was a professional chef his entire life. He worked at Plaza Madrid, where he met his former wife, Morey's Coach House and in the 1970's he served as head chef at Stoksay Castle. He was the owner of the former Jamey's Family Restaurant, Reading and Pot of Gold Restaurant, Hamburg. No one could make BBQ ribs like daddy. He was noted for his rice pudding, a recipe he would never give out, and his chicken potpie. While a patient in the hospital, he was still making his recipes.
A member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, he was a mason and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards (Blackjack) watching TV and going to the casinos.
He is survived by his children - Paula wife of David Jones, Surfside Beach, SC, Patricia wife of Ed Brown, Hummelstown, Ana wife of William Smith, Pittsburgh, Elizabeth Zunic, Port Carbon, Holly wife of Gerald Acker, Pottsville, and Charles C. Karasoulis, Pottsville. There are also 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Charles was predeceased by his 14 bothers & sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM from Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. Father Theodore Petrides, Proistamenos will officiate. Interment in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. Viewing on Monday from 10-11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Red Cross, Southeastern PA Regional Headquarters, 2221 Chestnut St., Phila, PA 19103. Charles was the recipient of many blood transfusions and if not for the donors, it would not have been possible.
