Charles Kubovcsak Obituary

Charles "Chooch" P. Kubovcsak, 71, of Cumru Township passed away Saturday, February 10th, 2024 in the Reading Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Judith L. Kline. Born in Reading, Charlie was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Rea) Kubovcsak.

Charlie was proudly employed as a locomotive engineer for over 4 decades and was known by those in the industry as one of the best at his trade.  He also worked diligently as a Union Representative for those in the Railroad industry and represented those in the industry in disputes as well as negotiated fair labor contracts for his fellow workers.  He earned the nickname "Chooch" from his employment.

Over the years, Charlie was a member of many local clubs and fire company social clubs. Some of these organizations include the Lincoln Park Fire Company, West Wyomissing Fire Company, Quoiting Club, Pennwyn Club, Berks County Parrot Head Club, Victor Emmanual's, Northmont Fellowship, 14th Ward, Sinking Spring VFW and Jackson's Democratic Club.  Charlie enjoyed spending time with all his friends he met over the years at these clubs.

Charlie loved most sports and enjoyed watching any game he could.  Despite living in the Philadelphia region for all his life, Charlie always cheered on his favorite teams of the N.Y. Yankees and Miami Dolphins. Charlie was a season ticket holder for the Reading Fighting Phils baseball team for many years and he enjoyed spending time at those games with his friends and family.

Although sports was a big part of Charlie's life, he really treasured time spent with his family and close friends.  Nothing made him happier than giving his Phillies tickets to his family for them to come and enjoy the games.

In addition to his wife, Judith, Charlie is survived by his two children from his first wife, Kathy.  Charlie's first child is Tracy L. Boyer-Shenk, wife of Keith Shenk of Wernersville.  Charlie's second child is Joseph C., husband of April Kubovcsak of Muhlenberg.  Charlie had one stepson, Dustin Work of Reading.

Charlie was also thrilled to have six living grandchildren: Bryan Boyer, Travis Boyer, Tyler Boyer (Megan), Madisyn Shenk, Amanda Kubovcsak and Sean Kubovcsak.  Charlie was heartbroken at having one grandson predecease him: Cameron Boyer.  These grandchildren also provided Charlie with eight wonderful great grandchildren:  Ainslee Boyer, Everett Boyer, Hazel Boyer, Kaiden Boyer, Jaxson Boyer, Deklin Boyer, Axel Boyer and Sofie Fick.  He will forever be known to them as "Pop Chooch".

Charlie is also survived by his siblings, Michael, John and Diane.  Charlie was predeceased by an older brother, Richard Kubovcsak.

Friends and relatives are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. followed by his service starting at 11 A.M. from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1 East Lancaster Avenue, Shillington, PA 19607.
