Darren J. Queen, 52, passed away unexpectantly on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in his Sinking Spring home surrounded by loving family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dundee, Scotland, he was a son of Margaret S. (McKaig) and William Queen, and the loving husband of Rebecca J. (Shipe) Queen.
He moved from Scotland to Sao Paulo, Brazil and then to Detroit, Michigan where he became an avid Detroit sports fan, especially the Lions.
A 1991 graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn, Darren proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years as an IT Manager for several Berks County Collections firm. Darren also served as Bar Manager for the 18th Ward Democratic Association in Reading, and tended bar at the Pennwyn Motor Assn. where his warm personality, and welcoming spirit made him a beloved bartender and friend to many.
Darren was also a popular friend and valued member of the Sinking Spring VFW Post 6150, the 18th Ward Democratic Club, the West Lawn Quoiting Club, the Pennwyn Club, and social clubs at the Sinking Spring Liberty, Kenhorst, Lincoln Park and West Wyomissing fire companies. He could often be found shooting pool at many of the clubs he socialized along with his wife.
In addition to his loving wife Rebecca, Darren is survived by his sons Alistair S. Queen of West Reading, fiancé of Karleigh Knapp, and Brodee M. Queen of Centerport, his daughter Emilyn M. Queen of Centerport, his step-daughter, Aaliyah Schweitzer of Wyomissing, his beloved grandchildren Ahsoka and Augustus Queen, his faithful dog Cooper, and a brother and sister.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1 East Lancaster Avenue, Shillington, PA. A celebration of Darren’s life will continue from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Lincoln Park Fire Company Social Quarters, 310 Old Fritztown Road, Lincoln Park.
