Deloris L. "Nurse Del" Carlson Markel

Deloris L. Carlson, 58, of Grill, PA, passed away February 10, 2018 at 4:31 AM in her residence with her loving husband by her side. She was the wife of Darrell T. Carlson. The two would have been married for 35 years this August. She was Born in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County, PA, and was a daughter of Elizabeth M. (Wagner) Markel of Mt. Carmel and the late Pershing W. Markel, Sr. Deloris worked as the nurse manager for the Family Health Care Center at the Reading Hospital for over 30 years, last working December 2017. She was a member of Grace Fellowship, Cumru Township, and regularly attended Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Dillsburg. She was a 1977 graduate of Mt. Carmel H.S. and a 1982 graduate of Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She loved volunteering as the Family Camp nurse at Camp Yolijwa, (Church of God), Newville, PA. She played French horn in the Mt. Carmel Mounties H.S. band. Her hobbies included playing the piano, reading, and watching Flyers games. She loved vacationing in Disney World, but her greatest love was her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her sons - Joshua T. husband of Jessica A. Carlson, Alburtis, and Zachary M. husband of Brittany L. Carlson, Dillsburg, her grandchildren - Avery R., Elaina L., and Elijah R, her siblings - Pershing W. Markle, Jr. and his wife Linda, Berwick, and Betteann wife of Tom Joyce, Ashland. Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Church of God, 146 S. York Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019. Pastor Zachary Wilt will officiate.
