Edna Shuttlesworth Obituary

Edna M. Shuttlesworth, 87, formerly of Shillington, passed away May 14, 2023 in the Highlands at Wyomissing where she resided.

​Born in Ashland, PA, she was the daughter of the late Geurney E. and Edna V. (Heinz) Zeigenfuse. She was the loving wife of Robert F. Shuttlesworth with whom she shared 67 years of marriage,

​A 1953 graduate of Ashland High School, Edna attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College and graduated from McCann’s School of Business. She worked as the secretary to the Superintendent of the Ashland State Hospital and later in the date processing department at the Governor Mifflin Education Center, retiring in 1987.

​While in high school at Ashland, Edna was a varsity cheerleader, served as a class officer, was a delegate to the model U.N. seminar, sang in the Glee club and mixed chorus, accompanied on piano for various music groups, and was voted both May Queen and Queen of the Prom. While attending college in Bloomsburg, she was voted Sweetheart at Sigma Pi fraternity at Homecoming. 

​In Ashland she taught Sunday School and Bible School at Zion Reformed Church and served as a Girl Scout leader. After moving to Shillington, they became members at Immanuel U.C.C. where she served as both a Deacon and Elder.

​Edna was a gift from God. She was full of love and light. The beauty and kindness of her spirit will be a cherished memory for her adoring family and friends. To know Edna was to know the Grace of God. She was an angel on Earth as she now is in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband Bob, her children – Barbara L. Stallonepartner of Albert A. Stallone, Jr., Wyomissing, Dr. Robert J. husband of Dr. Patti Stokes, Wyomissing, Susan K. wife of Richard M. Cobb, Marietta, GA, her grandchildren – Samantha wife of Chad Muir, Wyomissing, Erin wife of Cosmon Bylos, Atlanta, GA, Lane wife of Matthew Creatore, NYC, Carly wife of Christian Coquoz, Houston, TX, Albert Stallone, III, Wyomissing, Regan Cobb, Atlanta, GA, Ethan Cobb, NYC, William Shuttlesworth, Wyomissing, Leigh Cobb and Aden Cobb, both of Atlanta, GA and her great grandchildren – Adalyn and Ryland Muir, Wyomissing.She is also survived by many whom she treasured as friends.

​Funeral services from The Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington will be private at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Megan Huesgen will officiate with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington.
