Ethel I. Johnson

Ethel I. Johnson, age 92, passed from this world to the next on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Her journey, which began in Columbia, PA in 1925, ended at the ManorCare Health Services in Laureldale, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late John and Sarah (Haus) Nace, Ethel was the middle of nine children. She was married to George J. Johnson for over 50 years, until George's death at age 94 in June 2010. Ethel was a valued member of the community, accumulating friends and stories wherever she went. She loved telling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren stories of her childhood on the farm in Lancaster County where she harvested and dried tobacco, of her years as a school crossing guard and her time in retail at the former King's Department Store. In her golden years, Ethel enjoyed reading mystery novels, watching the Philadelphia Phillies on television and assembling complicated jigsaw puzzles. Ethel is survived by her three daughters - Sarah E., wife of Elmer S. (Pete) Clark III, Joyce A. Johnson-Clayter and Tony M. Clayter and Barbara J., wife of Darrel E. Glass. She has four Grandchildren - Travis G. Johnson and his wife Candice of Reston, VA, Adrienne N. Clark, Jordan A. Clark and his fiance, Megan Koslowski and Keinan A. Clayter. She also has three great-grandchildren - Liliana S. and Annika E. Johnson and Julian J. Bates. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family with Mrs. Johnson being laid to rest with her beloved husband George at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
