Evelyn M. "Pokie" Martin

Evelyn \"Pokie\" M. Martin, 86, formerly of Pottstown, passed away January 6, 2019 in Spruce Manor, West Reading, where she was a guest since January 2014. She was the loving wife of 60 years to Harry L. Martin, Jr., also a guest at Spruce Manor. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late James Alan & Vesta (Gephart) Luft. Evelyn worked in quality control at Mrs. Smith's Pies for 49 years, retiring in 1992. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's U.M. Church, Laurel, DE, where she sang in the choir and was active in their ladies' aid group. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, canning, clamming, crabbing and cleaning her home. She loved her grandkids and working beside her husband in the yard. Harry and Pokie were inseparable. She will be remembered for her willingness to always help those in need. Surviving in addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her children - Patricia Vail (Michael), Jacksonville, FL, Eileen M. Hughes (David), Pottstown, Harry A. Martin, Boyertown, Larry L. Martin fianc of Lorie R. Coursey, Pottstown, Barry L. Martin (Gladys), Skippack, Gary L. Martin (Lisa), Limerick, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings - Helen Catherine Luft, Ralph Luft, Herbert Luft, Violet Luft and a great grandson. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert E. Davalt, II, will officiate. Interment in Falkner Swamp Cemetery, Gilbertsville. Please remember Evelyn by making contributions in her memory to St. Paul's U.M.
