Frank Daniel Randazzo, 93, of Shillington, passed away November 6, 2023 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Reading, he was the second son of the late Charles M. and Caroline (DiMaria) Randazzo. He was the husband of Charlotte E. (Jackson) Randazzo with whom he shared 43 years.
A graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1948, Frank attended Penn State University, Golden Beacom Business School and the American Institute of Banking. From 1954 to 1957, he served with the 7th Army (40th Ordnance Company) in Europe (Germany). From 1960 to 1963, he served as an administrative specialist and full-time airman in the Delaware Air National Guard. From 1963 to 1982, he was engaged in the publications industry as an independent franchise dealer/contractor. He was the advertising and circulation manager for Country Magazine, a local tri-county publication. On February 12, 1979, he was honored at the Sales and Marketing Executives of Central Iowa’s Annual Distinguished Salesman Award Banquet where he was awarded and given public recognition. He received the Victor Trophy as the Outstanding Sales Manager of the Year. From 1982 to 2012, he developed the Oley Valley/Drumheller Orchards sub-division as the CEO of Rand Realty, Inc., a family corporation. He was employed by the Wilmington Trust Company and the Reading Trust Company as an assistant auditor, branch manager, and records retention manager. He established and owned the Copenhagen Inn in Downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
On December 30, 2016, he was inducted into the Governor Mifflin Wrestling Hall of Fame, Class of 2017, and the District III Wrestling Coaches Association 2018 Hall of Fame. On February 2, 2017, he was honored and recognized by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as the oldest “active” junior high wrestling coach in the United States. He is the founder of the Governor Mifflin Wrestling Club and served as President and Treasurer. He was a volunteer coach for over 30 years and coached his son, grandsons, and many, many students from the elementary through junior high levels.
Frank’s hobbies were many and included: drama/acting, music, horseback riding, fishing, and coaching wrestling. He played first violin in the Southern Junior High orchestra and continued to play throughout his lifetime. At Reading High, he swam breast stroke and butterfly as a member of the Varsity Swim Team and the 7th and Laurel City Swim Teams and Water Polo Team.
In 1947, during the 7th and Laurel City Pool’s Annual Water Carnival, Frank featured his very own pet dog, “Ko-Ko, the Diving Clown Dog,” where he performed a ritual high fire dive. Frank was set aflame on a platform before diving into the water. Ko-ko follows with a dive from the lower diving board.
Survivors include his son, Frank James Randazzo; daughters, Rochelle Belville, Anita Randazzo Abelson; step-children, Charles Ganster, Keith husband of Denise Ganster, and Denine wife of Dominic Grillo. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christopher husband of Jayme Ganster, Dominic husband of Paula Grillo, Shawn Grillo, Savanah Ganster, Edward Weitzel, Zebulon Ganster husband of Dee Koutsourias Ganster, Steven husband of Chrissy Ganster. Ciera Ganster, Kivi Ganster, Alicia Grillo, Shawna Riera, and Thaddeus Ganster. Finally, he is survived by his great-grandchildren: Evan Kohler, Aubrey Ganster, Aiden Ganster, Avery Ganster, Aiden Grillo, E. J. Weitzel, Wrenly Ganster, Carson Ganster and Veda Ganster. He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Katherine A. Panzano; two brothers, Michael A. and Daniel Randazzo; and his three sisters, Daisy R. Polito, wife of James Polito, Josephine Neddo, wife of Roger Neddo, and Cross Dana, wife of Maurice Dana.
Viewing from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Additional viewing on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Immanuel U.C.C., 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM officiated by the Rev. Jayme Babczak. Entombment with military honors will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. All military veterans are requested to wear their miniature medals (top 3) and insignias.
