Harold H. Fries, DDS

        Harold H. Fries, D.D.S., 90, of Shillington, passed away January 10, 2024, after a short illness, in his residence.

        Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harold W. and Claire F. (Buehrer) Fries. He was the husband of the late Joyce O. (Barnes) Fries who passed away July 28, 2019.

        He was a 1951 graduate of Shillington High School where he participated in football, track and served as class president. Upon completing a two years program at Albright College, he graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry. After graduation he spent two years in the U.S. Army as a dentist. Doc opened his dental practice in Shillington in 1959, where he worked until March 2023. He was proud his son Tom joined him in the practice in 1987.

        Harold enjoyed skiing, boating, spending time at the beach, and sipping the occasional Manhattan. He was an avid skier who loved organizing ski trips to Vermont with family and the “Mad Dogs”. Doc introduced and taught many people to ski. As much as he loved skiing, he cherished spending time with family and friends in Ocean City, NJ. Early morning walks on the boardwalk were a favorite. He attended many Penn State football games, both home and away.

        Doc is survived by his sons – Thomas M. Fries, D.D.S. husband of Suzanne Fries, Brecknock Twp. and Theodore H. husband of Leteshia Fries, Birdsboro, his granddaughter Megan Parraz, his four great grandsons – William, Jr., Jacob, Noah and Matthew and his brother Thomas R. husband of Nancy Fries, Wyomissing.

        Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington. The Rev. Elmer B. Reinhold, Jr. will officiate. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington.
