Heather Hinkel Obituary

Heather Ellen Hinkel passed away on December 1, 2017 at the age of 59, in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Hospital surrounded by her loving friends and caretakers.
Heather was born on July 31, 1959, and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. She was drawn to nature as a young girl living along the Laurel Run Creek and always enjoyed the trip across the Delaware River to experience the amazing waterfall rock slide at The Glen. A member of the Campfire Girls of America, she would gain a life-long passion for outdoor living and organized group camping trips to some of the most beautiful national parks.
She was a competitive athlete while attending Muhlenberg High School and always made great friends in every group she joined. After graduating in 1977, she ventured to Atlantic City, NJ where she worked planning tours; she then moved to Los Angeles where she would make the West Hollywood district her home for over 35 years.
As a professional minded person, Heather had diverse experiences during her career including graphic design, administrative management, and photography. It was her work as Executive Director of the Entertainment Alliance in which she excelled in every way, producing events and organizing this volunteer organization for almost 20 years. In return, she was awarded a Visionary Honor in 2017 for her undeniable compassion and dedication to the cause and the beneficiaries.
She was truly kind and generous in every way. An independent spirit, a community advocate, she was always in the front of the march for women's, human, and animal rights, and nature preservation. Even while putting all her strength into her battle with breast cancer, she was able to put energy into bringing everyone together in special ways. We were all captured by her heart and our love travels now with her gentle soul.
Heather was proceeded in death by her father Edward, and is survived in Reading, PA by her mother Margaret, brother David, niece Kara, sister Dorian and two nephews, Kyle and Rileigh in Colorado.
A Memorial service will be held on February 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 4201 Stoudt's Ferry Bridge Rd, Reading, PA 19605. Condolences can be sent to 3340 Willow Grove Ave, Reading, PA 19605. Donations can be made in her memory to the Entertainment Alliance at entertainmentaidsalliance.org/support.
