Henry Hayne Thomas, 87, formerly of Mohnton, passed away May 24, 2024 at Berks Heim where he was a resident since January 2020.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Edward Hayne and Angeline Rose (Jordan) Thomas. He was the husband of the late Wynne Estelle (Herflicker) Thomas who passed away September 16, 2023. They celebrated 59 years of marriage prior to her passing.
Henry, lovingly known as Hank, served in the U.S. Army Reserves between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as a foreman at Bortz Chocolate, retiring when they closed. He was the former owner of Krick’s Corner at 9th & Exeter Streets, Reading and Thomas Sandwich Shop in Mohnton. A member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mohnton and the Mohnton Lions Club. Hank liked fishing and golfing but was an avid bowler and enjoyed coaching the kids (and some big kids too) at Berks Lanes. He and his predeceased twin brother Joe were lifelong Phila Phillies fanatics. Hank was a proud and loving father who also cherished his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children – John J. husband of Beth Thomas, Mohnton, David A. Thomas, Cumru Twp., Andrea W.
