James P. Hetrich, 65, of Centre Township, passed away unexpectantly in the emergency room at Penn State Health - St. Joseph on March 4, 2017 at 4:52 PM. He was the loving husband of Diane M. (Ruffner) Hetrich. They would have been married 47 years on April 10th. Born in Hershey, he was a son of the late Harold A. and Gloria P. (Long) Hetrich. Jim graduated in 1969 from Wilson High School and was a member of the reunion committee. He then attended Philco Technical School in Philadelphia for mechanics. He was employed as a demolition foreman for Empire Wrecking for 20 years, retiring August 2008. From 1974-1987 he worked at Hafer Petroleum as an installer. He was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, GT Victory Riders Motorcycle Ministry, N.R.A., Mt. Pleasant Fire Company and a Lifetime H.O.G. member. He attended Salem-Berne United Methodist Church, Hamburg. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, trap shooting, hunting, his animals (goats, miniature donkeys and horses) and loved his farm and riding his John Deere gator. Of all he enjoyed, his favorite was being \"Popee\". He will always be remembered for being a great husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife he is survived by his Daughter Jami D. Neuin, Bern Twp.; his brother William A. husband of Jeanne Hetrich, West Lawn; his sister Kathleen A. wife of Michael Galbraith, Mechanicsburg; and his granddaughters Harlee D. and Ashlee K. Neuin. Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM in West Lawn U.M. Church, 15 Woodside Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609. Rev. Dr. Jeffrey A. Raffauf and Rev. Andrea M. Haldeman, his pastors, will officiate. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens will be at the convenience of family. Friends may call Saturday from 9-11 AM at the church. Immediately following services, a reception will be held at the Church's Community Center. Please honor Jim by making contributions in lieu of flowers to West Lawn UMC at the above address, Salem-Berne UMC, 292 Salem Church Rd., Hamburg, PA 19526; Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 N. 3rd St., Phila, PA 19123; or the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY, 10016.
