Jamie Smith Obituary

Jamie L. Smith, 44, Shillington, passed away February 17, 2017 at 4:50 AM in the Mifflin Center, Shillington, with his loving family by his side. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of John B. and Linda A. (Wilhelm) Zielinski of Shillington.
A 1990 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Jamie went on to get a Bachelor's Degree from Millersville University. He last worked in 2014 as a cashier for Target in Wyomissing where he enjoyed the relationships he built with his co-workers and regulars who often chose to pass through his lane. Since the summer of 2014 he resided at Mifflin Center and became a favorite among many of the staff. Their loving care was greatly appreciated by his family.
He enjoyed attending his son's sports activities and shared a special bond with him while watching all the Philadelphia teams, their often-hilarious outbursts becoming part of the entertainment. Watching his daughter perform during dance recitals and concerts always brought a smile to his face. And their shared love of reading the same books brought him further pride as she began writing her own stories and poetry.
An avid reader and lover of movies and 80's and 90's music, his large collections of these gave him a lot of pleasure in his final years.
In addition to his loving parents he is survived by his children - Zachary R. Smith and Alyssa M. Smith of Shillington, his sister Joanne B. (Zielinski) Fidler wife of Bradley Fidler of Temple, and their sons Johnny and Jake Fidler. Also his maternal grandfather, Russell E. Wilhelm, Boyertown, and aunts Patricia (Wilhelm) Adamczyk - wife of Joseph Adamczyk of Mohnton and Cathy Wilhelm - partner of Steve Steffe, Bernville, as well as many cousins and extended family members. He is predeceased by his aunt Barbara Wilhelm of Shillington.
Jamie is proud to join his predeceased birth father, Thomas J. Smith, and predeceased birth grandmother, Doris Smith in donating their brain tissue samples for use in finding a cure for Huntington's Disease.
