Janet R. (Hoffman) Tait

        Janet R. (Hoffman) Tait, 89, formerly of Park Manor, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Hospice care at Reading Hospital.

        Born in Pocono Pines, in 1934, she was the only child of Ira P. and Ruth Martha (Kirn) Hoffman. She was predeceased by her husband, E. Dean Tait who passed away May 19, 2020.

        She is survived by two daughters, Karyn L. Spengler, wife of Ryck D. Spengler and their two sons, Ryan P. Spengler, and Kyle (Kelly) Spengler, and daughter Patricia (Ronald) Manuel and their son, Maximillian. There are four great grandchildren, Finn, Reece, Emma, and Ruby.

        She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Mohnton since the early 1960’s and was the church secretary for 20 years. As a child, she spent her 5th grade through 11th grade years in Aruba where her father was the principal at an International School. These years were the most exciting years of her life. Returning to the U.S. for her senior year in High School was not an easy transition. She traded her dreams of being a foreign correspondent for marriage and children. She loved reading, chocolate, her children, chocolate, her grandchildren, chocolate and great grandchildren. She loved her church, being in the choir, her church friends and traveling.

        There will be a private burial in St. Johns’s Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove with a Memorial Service at Calvary United Methodist Church to be announced. Please honor Janet by contributing to the Animal Rescue League, 55 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA, 19508. The family would also like to thank Berks Heim and is so grateful to the staff in B-2 Nursing and also Tower Health at Home Hospice.
