It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry R Irey announce his passing on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 73. Jerry passed peacefully surrounded by family. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Deborah Irey (Beaver). He was the son of Richard and Shirley (Johnson) Irey. Jerry is survived by his cherished children April (Irey) Werner, wife of Carl Werner, Son Shawn Irey, husband of Tiffany. He was also blessed with his grandchildren Caleb, husband of Carisa, Owen, Noah, Zoe, Isabella and Braheim. Jerry is also predeceased by brother Robert Irey.
Jerry was a retired maintenance mechanic by trade. Though he spent his life in service to others. First in the United States Army, later in life as a Volunteer Assistant Fire chief at the Kenhorst Volunteer Fire company, and always in help to his family and friends in any way that he could offer.
Jerry was settling into retired life in Florida where he learned to love sitting on the beach or by the campfire. Jerry loved to do woodworking and could fix or build nearly anything. He loved to read, watch historical shows, fishing, and in his younger years spent time on his Harley. Though more than anything Jerry’s greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jerry will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him though he will forever be remembered. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1 E Lancaster Avenue, Shillington. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment with full military and fire department honors to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kenhorst Volunteer Fire Company at 305 S.
