Joan M. (Rys) Pietrowski, 79, of Wyomissing, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 in Columbia Cottage surrounded by loving family. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Ufer) Rys. She was married to Michael J. Pietrowski, with whom she proudly celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage earlier this year.
Joan graduated from Reading High School and went on to study cosmetology. She became a manicurist; after many years, she became a self-employed business owner and grew her manicuring clientele, most of whom became like family.
She held a special place in her heart for her dogs and cats that she loved over the years. She also enjoyed coffee, reading the newspaper, listening and dancing to her favorite polka music or Frank Sinatra songs.
More than anything, Joan loved spending time with her family. Together they enjoyed traveling, beach trips to Wildwood Crest, summers at the Ken-Grill pool and snow skiing in the Pocono’s. She and her husband looked forward to their winters in Florida.
In addition to her husband Mick, Joan is survived by their children: daughter Kathleen Fabian (Chuck) Myrtle Beach SC, son Matthew Pietrowski (Deana), Leesport and daughter Jennifer Taylor (Richard), Sinking Spring, along with her brother Robert Rys (Jackie), Harrisburg. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Ryan, Lauren, Logan, Jake, Maddie and Emma, and her great-granddaughter Elise, all of whom will cherish memories of their very special MomMom.
Viewing from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 9:00-10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joan at 11:00AM, at Nativity BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, 504 Summit Avenue, Millmont, with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
