Joanna Rose (Moyer) Kachel, 86, Wyomissing, passed away November 27, 2023 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Ralph D. Kachel, who passed away October 27, 2016. They celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his passing. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late J. Stephen and Emma L. (Wails) Moyer.
She was a 1955 graduate of Caernarvon Township High School and received her LPN schooling at Reading-Muhlenberg Vo-Tech.
Joanna was known as “Sissy” to many family and friends. She was a devoted mother who said her happiest days were when she was caring for her babies. Friends enjoyed her exuberant spirit and great sense of humor. She was known to light up a room! During her time as a Licensed Practical Nurse she often received thank you notes and tokens of appreciation from patients and families.
She is survived by her 3 children – Brian L. husband of Mary Kachel, Mohnton, Barry D. husband of Marybeth Kachel, Shartlesville, Pamela J. wife of Mark Lenza, Exeter Township, her sister - Eleanor Neuhs, Wyomissing, her 4 grandchildren – Danette Tolland, Geneia Esterly, Rachel Kachel, Michael Kachel, her 9 great grandchildren – Zoey, Zayla, Bayley, Kaiya, Baker, Bryson, Addison, Lukas, Ava, and her 4 great great grandchildren – Rayden, Skyler, Jaxon and Teddy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers – J. Stephen Moyer, Jr, Charles D. Moyer, Robert Moyer, and her sisters – Mary Mohn and Alice Linton.
