Joseph Pinto Obituary

Joseph M. Pinto, 82, of Shillington, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Mifflin Center following a lengthy illness, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Dunmore, Lackawanna County, PA, he was the only child of the late Rose I. (Sena) and James M. Pinto. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Penelope F. (Giles) Pinto.

A 1961 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He continued his education at Albright College and later graduated from Reading Business Institute. Joe dedicated over 30 years of service to Luden’s/Hershey Foods, working in the Accounting Department until his retirement in 2002.

Joe was a man who enjoyed staying active and engaged. He found joy in collecting meaningful items, doodling intricate designs, and keeping busy with projects around the house. A true “people person,” Joe had a gift for conversation and made friends easily wherever he went. He also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing. Above all, Joe cherished time with his family, especially traveling with his beloved Penny. Together, they explored destinations across the United States and enjoyed memorable trips to Europe.

He was a faithful member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Parish in Shillington.

In addition to his wife, Penny, Joe is survived by their son, Michael G. Pinto, of Shillington; Michael’s significant other, Julie E. Zaorski; his sister-in-law, Holly L. Urbine, of Oxford; and several cousins.
