Kathryn Linn Obituary

Kathryn Linn was welcomed in heaven by her husband Ray and son, Michael on October 1, just
shy of her 92nd birthday. She leaves behind her children; Martin (Kimberly), Mark (Betsy),
Marsha Erisman (Charles, Jr) and her fourth son, Dwight “Leon” Speas. She will be dearly
missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought a smile to her face whenever
they were near; Dr. Jaime Brown (Daniel, son; Archer) Dana Bailey (Robert), Jantzen (Kimberly,
daughter; MaCenna), Krystle Atwood (Adam, sons; Bennett, Blair and Brooks), Jeffrey (Annie),
Jonathan (Emily), Lauren Jordan (Jeffrey, daughter; Livia, sons; Nash and Wyatt) and Kelly
Prachniak (Jad, daughter; Emilia). Kate was the last surviving sibling; her death was preceded
by siblings Meveril, John, Leslie K., B. Luella, Gerald, Harold and George. She will be missed by
many nieces, nephews, close family friends and her devoted and attentive caregiver, Cathy
Bauer to whom we are truly grateful.
Kate was born in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to Elsie (Sigel) and Leslie William Jones. She
was the first in her family to graduate from high school graduating from Shippensburg High
School in Shippensburg, PA.. Soon after graduating, she married her sweetheart, Ray. Their
life together began in Port Jarvis, New York, then jumping to West Reading and Audubon, New
Jersey before eventually landing in Shillington, Pennsylvania; their home for more than 60
years. Kate enrolled and graduated from Empire Beauty School. She opened a home-based
beauty salon which brought many loyal customers, weekly, to sit in her turquoise blue chair and
enjoy chatty conversations and listening ears. Her shop, for decades, was a seat to budding
friendships and local chitchat.
In her spare time, Kate enjoyed walking and riding her bike. She was a daily fixture walking
along the Wyomissing Creek trails. Weekly visits to the Shillington Farmer’s Market in
Suzanne’s convertible were a highlight of her week. Many hours were spent with Ray, tending to
their “magazine worthy” yard. But family was always priority number one for Kate (and Ray).
Kate was the warm and loving grandparent everyone loved to give hugs and kisses to,
affectionately known as Grammy or GG. She loved babies and never missed a chance to hold
and cuddle one. Together they were the biggest cheerleaders to their grand and great
grandchildren. They never missed singing happy birthday over the phone, supportive cheers at
sporting events or exuberant applause after a performance. They hosted many family and
extended family gatherings where there were many laughs and memories made that will live
with us forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 23, 2024 at 12 noon at Immanuel United Church of
