Larry Lee Schroeder, 85, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed from this life while he slept and entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, while being cared for at the Highlands of Wyomissing, where he resided. Born in Marion Township, Berks County, he was the son of the late Leroy F. and Elsie M. (Balthaser) Schroeder Meshinsky. Larry enjoyed over 63 years of marriage to his loving wife, Lucy Ann Arnold.

        A 1958 graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn, Larry went on to work as a stock employee for Boscov’s, the only place that would hire him because he was only 17. He briefly worked for the Sinking Spring Foundry followed by Herb Motor Ford and served our nation proudly in the Army Reserve. He loved working at the various regional drag races and moved on to employment as an auto mechanic for Reading Foreign Car in West Lawn, then joined his father in his electrical business, L & L Schroeder, Electric. He became a well-respected electrician, working throughout Berks County for 41 years before retiring in 2011 to the great disappointment of his many long-time customers.

        He was deeply devoted to his Lord and served faithfully at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, Sinking Spring, where he was a charter member. He served on the deacon board for a time, was a well-loved youth leader along with Lucy, participated in several mission trips, and ran the multi-church monthly Christian Skate Nights at Skateaway in Shillington. He and Lucy were also board members of the Berks County Christian Endeavor in the early 1960’s.

        Larry loved cars and racing. During his younger years as an auto mechanic, he participated in the Duryea Hill Climbs where he still holds the record for his class, which is no longer run. He proudly showed and won trophies for the two foreign sports cars he restored, a beautiful dark green Sunbeam Tiger and a red Sunbeam Alpine.  Larry was also a self-proclaimed roller coaster enthusiast, often riding his favorite coaster, The Phoenix, at Knoebels. He loved amusement parks in general and made sure to visit the nearest ones every year.  He also enjoyed frequent trips to Disney World with Lucy and their family.

        Larry greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Camping, boating, waterskiing, country line dancing, cruising, auctioning, collecting various antiques (especially old bells), studying the history of Berks County (especially Berkshire Knitting Mills where his father worked), and bus trips with the Marion Seniors were just some of his favorite activities. He was a “Jack of all trades” and loved helping everyone whenever a need arose.

        In addition to his beloved Lucy, Larry is survived by their daughter, Robin L. Goodman, wife of Stuart, of Mohnton; three adoring grandchildren, Jordan, Meredith and Blake Goodman; and his sisters, Patsy Davis of Denver, PA, and Janel Dick, wife of Argyl, of Ephrata.

        Visitation will be held at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 4891 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, PA 19608, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2:00-3:00PM, followed by a Service at 3:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Larry’s honor to Calvary Bible Fellowship Church at the address above, or to Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Avenue, Reading, PA 19611.
