Lee G. Kachel, 93, of Wyomissing, formerly of Mohnton, passed away April 24, 2018 at 1:10 AM in the skilled care unit of The Highlands at Wyomissing. He was the husband of the late Marian M. (Klopp) Kachel, who passed away May 28, 2001. Born in Mohnton, he was the son of the late Lewis M. and Emma F. (Hatt) Kachel. Lee was the owner/Dealer Principle of Kachel Motors, Inc. in Shillington, beginning his full-time career in 1946 and retiring in 2004. As a second-generation car dealer, his family proudly represented Ford Motor Company for nearly 80 years. He was a 1942 graduate of the former Mohnton High School and a 1946 graduate of Albright College. He also attended Wharton School of Business. He was a member of Immanuel U.C.C., Shillington and a former member of Zion E.C. Church, Mohnton. Lee was a board member at the E. C. Home in Myerstown, now Stoneridge Village. He was a charter and oldest member of the Mohnton Lions Club. He was also a member of P.O.S. of A., Knights of Pythias, Chandler Lodge No. 227 F.& A.M., a former chanter for Rajah Shrine and a member of the Valley of Reading, AASR. He just received his 70-year pin from Chandler Lodge. Lee served his community as chairman of the Mohnton Zoning Board, president of the Governor Mifflin School Board, Treasurer of the Reading Musical Foundation and President of the Reading Choral Society. He served the business community as a member of the Ford Dealers Council, PA Auto Association Board and the PA Dealer Licensing Board. Music played a great part in Lee's life, he was a soloist at First E.C. and St. Thomas U.C.C, both in Reading, for many years. Surviving are his children - Ann L. Cusano widow of Paul Cusano, Shillington, Thomas A. husband of Cynthia Kachel, Mechanicsburg, Joan M. Kachel wife of George S. Reppert, Spring Township, his grandchildren - Jeffrey husband of Sabrina Cusano, Ephrata, Andrew husband of Megan Cusano, Spring Township, Kristin and Nathaniel Kachel, Mechanicsburg, and his twin great granddaughters - Penelope & Adelaide Cusano. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Lee's life on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 3:00 PM in Immanuel U.C.C., 99 South Waverly Street, Shillington, PA 19607. Rev. Dale Davis and Rev. Megan Huesgen will officiate. Interment to follow in Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton. Masonic service by Chandler Lodge No. 227 F.& A.M. will begin at 2:45 PM.
