Linda Sarkozy Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda M. (Murphy) Sarkozy, Wyomissing, who was called home to our Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 78. A devout Catholic, Linda lived a life of faith, love, and service, always guided by the teachings of Christ She was one of the kindest, most caring people you would ever meet.

Born in Morristown, NJ, Linda was a daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Gibbs) Murphy, and the beloved wife of David M. Sarkozy. They would have celebrated 45 years of marriage on March 5.  Known for her unwavering kindness, compassion, and generosity, Linda was a dedicated member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, where she made many great friends, and found true joy in prayer, service, and the church community.

Linda considered herself a “Cradle Catholic”, faithfully saying her prayers and the rosary daily.  As a Eucharistic Minister, she distributed Holy Communion in the church, at area nursing homes, and wherever needed in the community.  Linda lived out her faith through acts of charity, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear to those in need.

Linda and David were inseparable, and enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad, especially cherishing time spent at their cabin in Michigan, fishing, boating and entertaining friends and family members.  She also made many local friends through Weight Watchers, where she often found herself counseling and supporting fellow members, including some who became her closest friends.

In addition to David, Linda is survived by her sisters Joanne Leader, widow of William, Morris Plains, NJ, and Judy Swiatlowski, widow of Milton, Madison, NJ, her brother, Terry Murphy, husband of Patricia, Charlotte, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Murphy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, March 8, 2025, in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Alban’s Drive, Whitfield, with a visitation in the Church from 9:00-10:00am.  Inurnment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Ignatius Loyola Memorial Fund at stignatiusreading.org.  The Klee Funeral Home, Shillington is assisting the Sarkozy family with services. www.kleefuneralhome.com
