Louis R. Perugini, Jr., 83, of Reading, passed away January 3, 2025, in his residence.
Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late Louis R. Perugini, Sr., and Marie (Haschak) Perugini. He was the companion of 32 years to Beverly J. (Gernert) Eline.
A 1958 graduate of Reading High School, he attended Albright and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School. Louis was an entrepreneur starting at Dunn & Bradstreet as an East Coast analyst, then at National Auto, a business his father owned and where he worked with his brother Nic. He later purchased the former Capozello Paper warehouse, later known as Eastern Automotive Warehouse, Inc. and owns the Coal Cracker Brewing Company name.
Louis served as president of Friends of the Astor and was active in politics running for Reading City mayor, Reading City council and ran against Gus Yatron for US Congress. He loved trains and train rides, vacationing in the Poconos and Wildwood, cigars, collecting books, going to fairs and antiquing. Louis would love to talk about politics and world affairs and was extremely knowledgeable about both.
In addition to his loving companion Bev, he is survived by his brothers – Michael J. (Frances D.) Perugini, Nicolas J. (Cindy Scherl) Perugini, both of Reading, his sister – Marina Barnett, Phila, niece – Nicole Perugini (Christopher) Wolf, Etters, Nephew Nolan M. Perugini, Reading, 4 great nephews, Bev’s children - John M. (Lisa) Eline, Leesport, Robert S. (Ellen) Eline, Telford, PA, Kelly P. (Ralph) Gagliano, New Providence, NJ, Chad C. G Eline, Orlando, FL, and 7 grandchildren – Chelsea, Cory, Kathy, Frankie, Abby, Becca, Veronica.
