Marie Evelyn Sweigert, 107, Passed away on April 16, 2025, at Berks Heim.
She was the widow of John G. Sweigert who passed away March 1, 2011. They were married 62 years. Formerly of Park Manor, Cumru Twp., Marie was born January 31, 1918, to the late Raymond and Martha (Sowa) Kieffer of Shillington.
Marie’s Christian faith was the most important part of her life. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Grace Lutheran Church in Shillington. As a child, Marie was proud to have made the Church members’ “walk” from the original Shillington Lutheran Church on Broad Street to the newly built and current Grace Lutheran Church on Liberty St., Shillington in 1926. She was very active in her church going on retreats and teaching Sunday School.
Marie graduated from Shillington High School in 1936 and McCann’s School of Business in 1938. She was employed at Bollman Hat Factory in the business office until her marriage in 1948. Later, after raising her two children. Marie was a bookkeeper for Wm. G. Leininger’s in Mohnton until her retirement.
Marie loved playing Bridge, swimming, and accompanying her family on ski trips.
Surviving is a son, Jon B. Sweigert, husband of Julieta N. *Ceballos, Victor, Idaho and their daughter, Erika Sweigert Nava (Jack). Also, a daughter Jan M. (Sweigert) Laroche wife of John J. Laroche, Spring Township and Jan’s three sons, Richard A. Watts husband of Wenjuan (Xie) and their children, Samuel and Leia Watts, Steven J. Watts, husband of Joanne (Lee) and their children, Andrew and Lauren Watts, and David J. Watts and his children, Harley, Alyvia, and Novalyn Watts.
Marie was predeceased by her three brothers, James, Raymond, and Bruce Kieffer.

Services and burial will be private. The Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Shillington is assisting the Sweigert family.
