Melissa “Missi” (Wensell) Cherry, 59, passed away in her Blandon home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from complications of heart conditions. She was the daughter of the late Patricia and Robert Wensell, and was married for over 20 years to her loving husband, Jason Cherry.
Missi worked for Met-Ed for over 15 years, and in her spare time volunteered with the local pig rescue firm Puddin’ Heartland 1st for over a decade, where she attended pig events and helped to train and rescue pigs. Missi also loved everything about racing, going to racetracks all over the country with her husband Jason and their family. She enjoyed the constant activity in the pits, and also made sure everyone there was well-fed. Prior to her illness, she even helped push the Sprint car out to the track. When she wasn’t able to attend races in person, she would occupy her time at home watching racing on television.
In addition to her loving husband Jason, Missi is survived by her youngest son Marcus Cherry, husband of Amber, her daughter Alinda, wife of Dan Moyer, and her oldest twin sons Adam and Derek Wensell. Also surviving are her two granddaughters, three grandsons, her brother Rodney Wensell, and her sister Robi, wife of Shane Kramer, her sister-in-law Kim Cherry, mother of her nieces Eliza and Kahlan Tripp.
In addition to her parents, Missi was predeceased by her aunt, Anna Dietrich, and Jason’s parents, Audrey and Dana Cherry.
A Celebration of Missi’s Life will be held by her family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation or sponsoring a pig at the rescue: Puddin’ Heartland 1st, 40 Dogwood Lane, Auburn, PA 17922, or online at Puddin-heartland-1st.square.site.
