Miriam S. Kachel, 100, of Garden Spot Village, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully April 2, 2026, with family by her side.
She was the loving wife of the late Harold L. Kachel who passed away in 2014, after 55 years of marriage and was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry A. and Lillian B. (Greutman) Saneholtz of Shillington.
Miriam graduated from Sunbury H.S. in 1943 and furthered her education with additional Penn State courses. She retired in 1988 from Albright College where she worked as an administrative assistant to the registrar. Miriam also worked at Met-Ed and Sears, Roebuck & Co. After retirement she volunteered at the Reading Hospital, Reading Public Museum and Berks County Parks. She was a member of West Lawn U.M. Church
Miriam will be deeply missed by her family including her two sons – Alan E. Kachel, Kenhorst and Craig L. Kachel husband of Lisa King-Kachel, Brownstown; three grandchildren – Allison, Jansen and Madeline. She is the last surviving member of her family of five brothers and sisters and is also survived by several nieces.
Miriam’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chet Yoder officiating at The Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington, will be private.
