Ralph H. Schaeffer, 92, formerly of Shillington, passed away September 8, 2023 in the Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring City, where he was guest since November 16, 2021.
Born in Reading, He was a son of the late Harry H. Schaeffer and Emma (Hoffmaster) Smith. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Waldorf) Schaeffer who passed away April 1, 2002.
Ralph was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School and loved to travel. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the former Goodwill Fire Company fishing club. He worked for 28 ½ years as an inspector at CarTech, retiring in 1996. Ralph served his country in the US Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Ralph is survived by 2 sons – George Schaeffer – Murrieta, CA, Ralph S. Schaeffer (Bianca) – Tacoma, WA, his step-son – James W. Schaeffer (Vic) – Temple. Step-daughter – Sherry Scianna, North Port, FL, grandchildren – Sara Harrison, Matthew Schaeffer, Christian Schaeffer, his step grandchildren – Brooke, Kirsty, Chase, Paige and many great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters – Ruth Clouser and Doris Angstadt.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA.
