Raymond Hefton, Jr. Obituary

Raymond F. Hefton, Jr., 78, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away May 4, 2025 in Shillington after a long struggle with prostate cancer.

Born in Chester, Delaware County, PA, he was a son of the late Raymond F. Hefton, Sr. and Rose (Godek) Hefton. After graduating from St. James High School for Boys, he was proud to enlist in the Navy. He served as a corpsman embedded with the Marines during the Vietnam War, and worked at Westinghouse and the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard after his service. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Temple University in 1982, and eventually retired as a pharmacist from Reading Hospital.

Raymond was known for his quick wit, dry humor, generosity, and love of fast motorcycles and cars. He was a devoted friend and often reached out to friends and family with cards for all occasions. In his retirement he enjoyed visiting ships, planes, and historic sites.

He is survived by his daughter – Sara Hefton (Heather Martin) of Philadelphia, PA, and his sisters – Joan (Joseph) Gonzalez of Powhatan, VA, and Kathy (Gary) Trimble of Leeds, AL. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Whitehead.
