Raymond P. Moyer, 94, of Shillington, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in the care of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Reading. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Wilson H. and Anna (Adams) Moyer. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Ruth A. Keim.
Ray served his nation proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for 33 years as a Cable Slicer Foreman at the former Denver and Ephrata Phone Company.
Ray was at ease both indoors and outside, and enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, fishing at Indian River, feeding the birds and squirrels, and working in his garden. A talented handyman, he was always willing to help family and friends with odd jobs—never accepting payment, of course. Ray also cherished the time he spent with his cats. He was a Life Member of the Adamstown VFW, where he formed many lasting friendships.
In addition to his parents and Ruth, Ray was predeceased by two sisters, Marian Moyer and Ruth Leininger, and his brothers Donald and Carl Moyer.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington, presided by Rev. Gary Rarick, Epler’s Church, U.C.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ray’s honor to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508, or online at berksarl.org.
