Robert E. Racine, 83, of Cumru Township, died July 12, 2017 in the Reading Hospital where he was a patient. Born on the high seas of Ketchikan Alaska, Bob was the son of the late Emile J. and Mildred (Mayfield) Racine and the loving husband of the late JeanneMarie (Therasse) Racine. Surviving is a sister in law - Sister Dolores Ann Therasse of Jefferson Hills, PA. Bob was a gentle man with a quick smile who enjoyed life and brought joy and happiness to everyone who knew him. He grew up in Seattle, WA where he played basketball, football and handball. Bob was an avid golfer and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Business Administration and was active with the ROTC while in college. After graduation, he served around the world with tours of duty in Korea and Japan as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corp. Following his military duty, Bob spent his career in the industrial gas business beginning as a salesman and then working his way up the corporate ladder as a regional sales manager for Harris Corporation, Lincoln Electric and AmeriGas. He moved to the Reading area from California and was general manager, responsible for various locations in Southeast Pennsylvania. Bob and JeanneMarie were generous people who donated money to many charities, including the Wounded Warriors, Veterans of Foreign Wars, March of Dimes, Public Radio and many others.
