Robert D. Ruth, Jr.

Robert D. “Robb” Ruth, Jr., 67, of Spring Township, passed away unexpectantly on June 8, 2023 in his residence.

        Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert D. Ruth, Sr., and Ruth S. (Tothero) Ruth. He was the loving husband of Diane L. (Riegel) Ruth. On September 10th, they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

        He was a warranty claims writer for Penske Truck Leasing, last working on June 8th. A 1973 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, he was a 1977 graduate of the former Clarion State College. Robb was a firefighter with Keystone Fire Company and Kenhorst Fire Company, where he served as Lieutenant. He was a life member of the Berks County Fireman’s Assn., Lodge No. 62 F&AM, and the Scottish Rite – Valley of Reading. A former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mohnton and a current member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring, he was active with their choir and handbell choir.

Robb was a member of Boy Scout Troop 221, Shillington, where he attained the rank of Life Scout, attended the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM, and was a merit badge councilor for First Aid and Fire Safety. He was a volunteer and past president of the former Governor Mifflin Ambulance Assn, and member of the Wilson Music Boosters. Robb had a passion for Firefighting, EMT, Civil War history, music, baseball, and softball, where he coached Youth League. He also served as an assistant coach for the Southern Jr. High and Middle School.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife are his daughters – Kristin E. Ruth, Rebecca L. “Becky” Ruth, both of Sinking Spring, his sister Barbara Ruth Williams, widow of Richard Williams, Burbank, CA, and his puppy “Buttercup”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robb’s viewing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Graveside service at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading beginning at 11:30 AM officiated by the Rev. Dr. Harry S.
