Solomon Vanbrunt Obituary

Solomon John Vanbrunt, 26, of Mohnton, Pennsylvania, transitioned from this life on May 19, 2018 at his mother's home, where he was deeply loved and supported. All who knew Solomon will remember his warmth, his kindness, his infectious chuckle and his compassionate nature - and that he was extra sensitive to the feelings and pain of others, particularly those in greatest need. He gained the nickname \"Solly-lama\" from his high school friends because of his gentle, playful spirit. It was not unusual for him to spend his paycheck on groceries for someone in need or stop on the street to offer comfort to an addict he saw in pain. Solomon was passionate about the outdoors - landscaping, pickup trucks, dogs and country music. He loved sunrises and sending us pics of those frequently. But more than anything, Sol loved people - he was always quick to help others, and he loved making us laugh. Alongside his deep compassion, Sol struggled with loneliness and depression, and that was where heroin found his weakness. He was relentless in his effort to never give up this battle, and we are heartbroken that it robbed him of the full long life that he dreamed of living. It's both sad and comforting that Sol had reached a good place in his life before it tragically ended. He loved the landscaping work that he did outdoors, he had recently renewed meaningful friendships and family relationships, and he was in love. Born in Frystown, Lebanon County, PA, to Jodie (Engle) Kane, of Cumru Township and Bruce W. Vanbrunt, Sr., of Lebanon. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son - Benjamin Sweigart, Harrisburg, his siblings - Zachari Engle and his wife Laura, Lebanon, Lawrence Vanbrunt and his wife Sommer, Lebanon, Bruce W. Vanbrunt, Jr., Palmyra and Christina Vanbrunt, Lebanon, his maternal grandmother - Rebecca Curry, Hershey, his aunts and uncles - John Engle and his wife Merline, FL, Jayne Engle, Montreal, Canada, Jesse Engle and his wife Leigh Ann, CA, Justin Engle, Hershey, Clinton (Mickey) Vanbrunt and his wife Francis, Lebanon, Yvonne (Vanbrunt) Tonini and her husband Gene, Lebanon, Thomas Vanbrunt and his wife Linda, Lebanon, Deborah Light, Lebanon, Michael Light and his wife Becky, Lebanon - many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, the \"Love of his life\", Kate Delany, Pottstown and many who have been like family to him through his journey on this earth. Please join in celebrating Sol's life on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the picnic grove at St. John's (Hain's) Church, 591 N. Church Rd., Wernersville, PA, 19565. Rather than flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Haiti Partners, P.O. Box 2865, Vero Beach, FL 32961. (haitipartners.org). We are so grateful that Solomon touched our lives. He and his generous and loving spirit forever change us.
