Thomas J. Scherer

Thomas J. Scherer, 72, of Reading, passed away Sunday, June 30th, 2024 at Reading Hospital – Tower Health.

He was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Mazzanti) Scherer, who he married December 27th, 1974.

Born in West Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Evelyn (Menn) Scherer.

Thomas was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregation Church.

He was a 1970 graduate of Wyoming Seminary School and earned his B.S. from Wilkes University in 1974.

Thomas was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed hunting upland birds.

In addition to his wife, JoAnn, Thomas is survived by a son, Kyle T., husband of Julie Scherer, Stevens, PA, and a grandson, Justin T. Scherer.

Thomas was predeceased by one son, Westly J. Scherer.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 5th, 2024, at 11 A.M., at St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregation Church, 46 E Church Street, Reamstown, PA 17567. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Rev. Matthew Hill will be officiating.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
