Walter D. Ernst, 84, of Sinking Spring, passed away on October 20, 2025, in Mifflin Center, Shillington, with his family by his side. Born in Reading Hospital, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Anna M. (Beyler) Ernst. He was married for 63 years to his wife, Linda L. (Gilmore) Ernst.
Walter and Linda owned Ernst Greenhouses before retiring in 2005. Walter loved hunting, fishing, and taking care of his Suffolk sheep. He also enjoyed his annual trip to the Fleetwood Hunting Camp with friends. Walter was a lifetime member of Cushion Peak Rod and Gun Club, President of the Gouglersville Grange, and member of the 4-H club.
Known as Pops to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was always sitting in his chair when they came to visit ready to share a snack.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Walter is survived by his son, David Ernst, Robesonia, and his daughter, Valerie Strunk, wife of Rick, Shillington, along with three grandchildren: Erica Ernst, Brielle Taylor, and Tyler Strunk, and five great grandchildren: Aiden, Aria, Jackson, Layla and Nova. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Ernst and sister, Marie Faust.
