William Ray Kilpatrick, 96, formerly Muhlenberg Township, passed away July 6, 2026, in his Wyomissing residence with his family by his side.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William James & Ruth Mae (Frech) Kilpatrick. He was the loving husband to Laura F. (Urkuski) Kilpatrick with whom he shared 72 years of marriage.
A 1948 graduate of Reading High School, he was also a graduate of Penn State University. Bill worked as a mechanical engineer for Carpenter Technology for 41 years, retiring in 1989. After retiring he was an engineering consultant with Eagle Brass, Bernville Road for 5 years, and while working for RPA Associates, where he consulted for Reading Alloys, Robesonia, Cabot in Boyertown and later for CarTech for 2 years, finally retiring at age 80 in 2010.
He taught evening courses at Penn State Berks Campus and Manufacturer’s Association of Berks County. Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since he was 16 years old. He served as Assistant Treasurer, Trustee, Sunday School teacher, Gardener, Miscellaneous Fix-it work and taught many in the congregation to ski. Bill also served as treasurer of the local Word of Life Club and taught Bible classes. He was an avid skier and taught kids to ski as part of his being a member in the Flying Dutchmen Ski Club.
Bill served his country as a 1st Lt. in the USAF during the Korean War. He was a member of the 339th Fighter Squadron Association and AISE.
In addition to his wife Laura, he is survived by his sons – Mark A. husband of Cathy Kilpatrick, Leesport, Dale W. husband of Jody Kilpatrick, Bern Twp., his grandchildren – Lisa, Amanda, Jacob, Erin and his great grandchildren – Bailey, Elliott, Sawyer, Brooks and Remmington.
Funeral services from Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Ave., Reading, PA 19611 will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Rev. Russ Weidel will officiate. Interment in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. Viewing from 9:30-10:30 AM at the church. Please make contributions to Calvary Baptist Church at the above address.
