William Hayden Ruth

        William Hayden Ruth, 90, of Shillington, formerly of Gouglersville, passed away August 18, 2024 at Country Meadows of Wyomissing.

        Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Agnes V. (Yuckonis) Ruth. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Lentz) Ruth who passed away November 12, 1994.

        Bill was an iron worker for Iron Workers Union Local 420, Reading and later Local 404, Harrisburg. He was a US Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War. While stationed in Lakehurst, NJ at jump school, he was the 75,000th student to jump from a plane. He enjoyed everything to do with the outdoors and loved his German Shepherd.

        He is survived by his children – Marlin D Weitzel, Jr. husband of Pam, FL, Linda E. wife of Hugh Baker, Lubec, Maine, Donald M. Weitzel, Bernville, Sherry L. wife of Danny Steffey, Shillington, Mark B. Weitzel, Shillington, Lisa E. wife of Robert Walker, Shillington, his siblings – Gary L. husband of Claire Ruth, Gouglersville, Geraldine wife of Michael Zampelli, Spring Township, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother - Charles C. Ruth (2019).

        Funeral services from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Avenue, Shillington, on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Pastor John Conover will officiate. Interment with military honors rendered by the Ray A. Master Post # 217 American Legion and the U.S. Marine Corps honor guard in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Twp.
