Wynne Estelle Thomas, 80, of Cumru Township, passed away September 16, 2023 at Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing where she was a patient.
Born in Reading, she was the only child of the late Calvin W. and Estelle (Hollenshead) Herflicker. She was the loving wife of Henry Hayne Thomas for 59 years.
A 1960 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Wynne was a lifetime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mohnton. She and her husband were the former owners of Thomas Sandwich Shop in Mohnton. She had a long career in banking and the legal field before retiring. She was a former member of the Woman’s Club of Mohnton and the Woman’s Club of Spring Township. She was a Sunday School teacher for 15 years; a Bluebird, Campfire Girl, and Girl Scout leader for many years; and served on the Parks and Recreation Board for Cumru Township. She enjoyed spending time every year at Shawnee-On-The-Delaware with family, was an avid scrapbooker, enjoyed card club with her friends and especially loved her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children – John J. husband of Beth Thomas, Mohnton, David A. Thomas, Sinking Spring, Andrea W. Thomas, Flying Hills, and her grandchildren – John (J.T.) husband of Emily Thomas, Sara, Jaxon, and Alexis (Lexi) Thomas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 7:30 PM in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 33 Church Street, Mohnton. Pastor Jessica Schmidt will officiate. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Wynne E. Thomas to support the Penn Ovarian Research Center (OCRC). Checks should be made payable to “Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania’ and indicate ‘in memory of Wynne E.
