Betty J. Nye, 83, of Cumru Township, passed away December 5, 2020 in the Reading Hospital where she had been a patient.

Born in Alsace Township, she was a daughter of the late Howard F. and Eva May (Schmehl) Trievel.

Betty worked as a deli clerk at Redner’s Markets for 13 years and was a member of the Kenhorst Fire Co., Gouglersille Fire Co., and the Shillington Social Quarters. She was of the Lutheran faith and was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School. Betty was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking traditional PA Dutch recipes. She was an avid, but frequently frustrated fan of the Phillies and watched every game. She enjoyed gardening outdoors and visits to the mountains or beach especially in warm weather.

Betty is survived by her companion of 33 years, Albert M. “Tex” Werner, Sr, Cumru Twp., her children – Paul H. Nye, spouse of Jerome V. Hofer, Rehoboth Beach, DE, Raymond C. husband of Lori Nye, Bernville, Charles H. Nye, Jr., Cumru Twp., Jody W. Nye, Upper Black Eddy, PA, her sister – Amanda Spinka, Temple, her 7 grandchildren and her 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son – David C. Nye and her siblings – Elwood, Paul, Wayne, John, Robert & Carl Trievel, Charles, Harold & Samuel Fick, Dorothy Manwiller, Mary Smith, Katie Etchberger & Dorothy Boyer.

No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held in the spring. The Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Shillington, is assisting the Nye family.
