Deone Dupre´ Hoffert, 89: Born June 9, 1931 in Birmingham, AL passed from this earth on Saturday April 10, 2021. Deone was a longtime resident in Mohnton, PA and died within the comfort of her home surrounded by her children.

Deone was the oldest child of Mildred and Walter Dupre’ of New Orleans, LA. She attended Wilson High School and Albright College in Reading. At Albright College, she met and soon after married John A. Hoffert, Jr. She frequently noted that her field of study at college – was John. Married to Atty. John Hoffert for almost 70 years and raising 3 children is a testament to her strength of character that underlined the ladylike exterior. She truly was the glue that healed and held the family together. She was a true southern lady that always showered graciousness in her home and everywhere she went. John Updike also mentioned Deone in his short story ‘Shillington’ as “the girl who came from Louisiana with a French name whom everybody wanted to save” (at roofball). Updike went on to describe Deone as a beautiful and mature twelve-year-old as he and the boys watched her on the swings.

As a mother of 3, she was the consummate cheerleader and supporter for all of life’s hurdles and conquests that faced her children, and also with her grandchildren. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for her family to make them good, kind, and successful human beings.

From her family, friends and lastly her caregivers; Deone was always the loveliest and sweetest person to grace our world. She was the best wife, mother, and friend that this world was blessed to have for her time on earth. She always believed in angels, and there is no doubt that she is now one of them. We will deeply miss you!

Parents Walter Dupre’ (deceased) and Mildred Dupre’ (n. Holzer deceased). Husband John A. Hoffert, Jr. (deceased April 20, 2020). She is survived by her brother Walter Dupre’ of Mobile, AL and sister Orlean Dupre’ Caballero on New Orleans, LA, and her following three children… Daughter Susan E. Morey: Grandchild Jesse J. Morey and wife Jaime with great grandchildren Owen and Alexis. Grandchild Zachary A. Morey, Son John W. Hoffert and wife Janel: Grandchild John Austin Hoffert and wife Katlyn, grandchild Blayne H.
