Edward V. Delewski, 73, of Robeson Twp., passed away November 9, 2021, at 12:05 PM in his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was the husband of Darlene L. Delewski. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Vincent C. & Lottie J. (Karnat) Delewski.
Ed served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He joined the Reading Police Dept on Oct. 27, 1969, and retired November 30, 2011, as a Lieutenant. While working he received the Good Conduct, Distinguished Unit Award, and a letter of commendation from Mayor Thomas M. McMahon on May 10, 2010. A 1965 graduate of Reading High School and later the Reading Police Academy, he received his second-class radio license on June 5, 1975. Ed was a certified instructor in police training and firearms. He was also a Range Master and a member of the Governor’s Twenty, #10, two years consecutive years. Ed was a member of Green Hills Gun Club, Clover Park A.A., Reading F.O.P. Lodge # 9, Reading Police Beneficial Assn, Amateur Trap Shooters Assn, Victor Emmanuel Society, Royal Order of Malamente – Club # 27, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter – Denise L. Derolf, Exeter Twp., Darlene’s son – Franklin S. Strohecker, Exeter Twp., his brothers – Bernard Delewski, Reading, Frank C. husband of Patricia Delewski, Reading, his grandson – Zachary husband of Ashley Derolf, his 3 great grandchildren – Lucas, Olivia & Eleanor, his niece – Kristin wife of Daniel Brumbach, and his nephews – Thomas P. Delewski and Nicholas E. husband of Eleanor (Wills) Delewski.
