Eugene M. “Gene” Lepore, 81, of Shillington, passed away December 15, 2021, at 7:08 PM in his residence.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Michael & Lena C. (Taliani) Lepore. He was the loving husband of Karen E. (Keiser) Lepore, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Gene worked in produce for over 38 years where he was a produce manager for 20 years. He started working at his father’s Italian wholesale and retail grocery store on North 9th Street in Reading, then Shop-Rite, Acme and finally Redner’s Markets. A 1959 graduate of Reading High School he was a member of Holy Rosary Church and a longtime member if Riverside Beneficial Association where he served as a President for 13 years. Gene enjoyed Nascar and was an Eagles and Phillies fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter – Gina E. wife of Steven P. Sassaman, Cumru Twp., his granddaughters – Nicole K. Sassaman, Kylie R. Sassaman and his grand dog Max.

Funeral services from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Twp. Please remember Gene by contributing to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
