Gayle Preston Sedgwick, 83, of Cumru Township passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Trenton, NJ, she grew up in Morrisville, PA and was a Pennsbury HS graduate. She attended Centenary College before eventually settling in Yardley, PA to raise her family and work as an administrative assistant.
Gayle was a member of Morrisville and Woodside Presbyterian Churches. She also served as president of Red Rose Day Fundraiser for the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey.
Gayle loved life. Over the years she enjoyed her bridge and tennis groups, spending time at the beach, exploring the countryside, and hosting parties for family and friends. She had a positive attitude and was always smiling, laughing, and giggling all the way through her final days.
Gayle was a daughter of the late Samuel Hulse Preston, Jr., and Dora L. (Berrell) Preston. She was the wife of Henry Sibley Sedgwick, Jr., with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter – Cynthia Sedgwick Huls wife of Keith Huls, of Morgantown, her son – Henry Sibley Sedgwick, III husband of Veronica Sedgwick, of Morgantown, her brother – Samuel H. Preston, III husband of Winnie Preston, of Coatesville, and her grandchildren – Jennifer, Andrew, Matthew, Michael and Nathan as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Lou Kauffman.
Gayle will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to extend deepest thanks to the wonderful staff of Caring Hospice, in addition to our amazing caregivers Yoli, Sonia, and Shanta.
