LaVerne Wohlbruck Obituary

LaVerne Wohlbruck, 93, of Cumru Township, formerly of Wyomissing Hills, passed away April 5, 2018 at 3:10 AM in the Reading Hospital where she was a patient since Saturday, March 31st. She was the wife of the late Martin H. Wohlbruck, who passed away September 28, 2015. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary prior to his passing. Born in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Oren L. and Madeline T. (Boland) Johnson and step-daughter of the late Samuel Steel. LaVerne graduated Altoona High School in 1943. She was employed by Sylvania Electric, Altoona as a Quality Control Inspector. After her marriage in July of 1948, she moved to Lancaster where she was employed by Hamilton Watch, Inc. as a Quality Control Inspector. Moving to Wyomissing Hills in 1958 with her children in school, she was employed by the Reading Hospital. She started in the Delivery Room in 1960 working as a Ward Secretary until 1972. She continued her career as an Office Manager for a Physician's office, retiring in 1987. During her retirement, she volunteered for 11 years delivering Meals on Wheels. She also served as secretary for the Wyomissing Hills Crime Watch. In 2010, she moved from Wyomissing Hills to the Heritage of Green Hills. LaVerne was active, participating in the Quilting Club and as a teacher's aid for Lauers Park Elementary School. She was a Charter member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church until her move to the Heritage, she then became a member of St. Benedict's R.C. Church, Robeson Twp. She is survived by her daughter - Leslie A. Wohlbruck, Spring Twp., her son - Stephen A. husband of Kathy A. Wohlbruck, Myerstown, her sister - Elizabeth wife of Edmund A. McConnell, Altoona, her grandchildren - Jason A. husband of Elizabeth Wohlbruck, Myerstown, Lindsay A. wife of Jonathan Ebling, Myerstown, Laura A. wife of Derek Zartman, Newmanstown and her great grandchildren - Riley, Finn & Tessa Zartman, Aubrey Ebling and Kendall Wohlbruck. She was predeceased by her sister Marian Baker and her great grandchildren - Aaron L Wohlbruck and Makenna M. Wohlbruck. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Benedict's R. C. Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton (Robeson Twp.) Rev. Philip Rogers celebrant. Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring, Twp.
