Mary L. “Mary Lou” Carabello, 94, formerly of Shillington, passed away November 21, 2021, at 3:10 PM at the Laurel Center, where she was a guest for 3 days. She resided at Country Meadows for the past 3 years. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Martin L. and Laura C. (Shaner) Seifrit.
She was a hairdresser for over 50 years, retiring in 2007 at the age of 80, working the longest at C.K. Whitner’s.
Mary Lou enjoyed crafts, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Mary Lou is survived by her children – Jodie L. (Don) Shade, Hamburg, and John M. (Lori) Carabello, West Reading, her grandchildren – Chad Shade, Andrea (Scott) Kravelick, Katie (Randy) Morison and Danielle Carabello and her great grandchildren – Parker, Charlotte, Mason, and Arya. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister – LaRue Steinmetz.
Graveside services in Birdsboro Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. Rev. Elmer B. Reinhold, Jr. will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please remember Mary Lou by contributing to Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 250,
