Obituary

Robert Chambers, 91, of Wyomissing, passed away July 13, 2021, in Columbia Cottage where he resided.

He was the husband of the late Sherry J. (Laumeister) Chambers who passed away on July 9, 2018. They celebrated 58 years of marriage prior to her passing. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William & Cora G. (Bateman) Chambers.

Robert was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps having served his country for 2 years during the Korean War. He was a participant in the Atomic Energy Commission atomic device testing at Camp Desert Rock, Nevada.

For 45 years, Bob was employed by Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation, which later became Multigraphics. After retiring as Technical Service Manager, he was employed in sales part-time at La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery. Later he was a driver for the Highlands of Wyomissing.

Bob was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of Williamson Lodge No. 307 F&AM, Womelsdorf and was a member of Conrad Weiser Chapter No. 449 O.E.S. where he served as Associate Patron for many years. He was a 32nd degree mason and member of the Valley of Reading, A.A.S.R. He was a member of Rajah Shrine, served as the Circus Treasurer for many years, and was a Past Commander of their Legion of Honor. Bob had been Assistant Scoutmaster of Whitfield Troop # 431. He enjoyed traveling to many of the United States, Canada, Greece, and the Caribbean Islands, especially Aruba.

He is survived by his son – Scott Robert husband of Jean (Rogosky) Chambers of Spring Twp. and his daughter – Allison Jean wife of Michael Gutierrez of Robesonia. He has two granddaughters – Charlotte Jean Chambers and Meredith Kelly Chambers and one great-granddaughter – Blake Ashley Hannum. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brother William Chambers in 1965 and his sister Betty Chambers Thompson in 2012.

The family would like to thank everyone at Columbia Cottage and Caring Hospice for their care.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Rev. Elmer B. Reinhold, Jr. will officiate. Masonic services by Williamson Lodge No. 307 F&AM will begin at 12:55 PM. Interment with military honors provided by the US. Marine Corps and Ray A. Master Post, American Legion, in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring. Visitation Saturday from 11:30 AM – 12:55 PM. I know Uncle Bob and Aunt Sherry are rejoicing and back together. He always spoiled me when I was a little girl. Our sympathy to Scott and Allison and their families.

Bob was a very welcomed addition to Columbia Cottage, We loved him and we are so very thankful that we had the pleasure of walking his journey with him. Bob I hope that my little pup met you at the gates, She made you smile which made me smile.
